New construction of the stove for Blast Furnance No. “A” including I&C installations, devices, gas, flue gas and air ducts, and a heat recovery unit device at the HKM Steel Plant – Duisburg

On the occasion of the industrial celebration of Steelworker’s Day in Poland, we are presenting a new video from one of our projects. This time, we would like to walk you through the individual stages of the erection of the construction of the new stove for Blast Furnance No. “A” including I&C installations, devices, gas, flue gas and air ducts, and a heat recovery unit device at the HKM steelworks in Duisburg, Germany.

The video presents the various stages of work: design, 3D visualizations, heavy lift engineering, pre-assembly and erection of steel structures, the hot new stove itself, ducts, and equipment. The pressure test of the new stove, carried out under the supervision of TÜV, was a major challenge. The stove was filler neck.

In next steps shown in the material you can see stages such as SCC corrosion protection using Corrocoat, and the installation of refractory lining inside the new stove and in the hot gas mains.

The final installation challenge was connecting the hot stove and the hot blast duct to the existing system during a short shutdown of the blast furnace.

🔢 Project in numbers: Steel structure ~ 2,350 tonnes, stove ~ 490 tonnes, Heat exchanger ~ 380 tonnes, Large mains~ 641 tonnes, Equipment ~ 249 tonnes, refractory materials~ 4,300 tonnes.

These figures speak for themselves! We would like to thank everyone involved in this project for their safe and efficient work. We also extend our thanks to the client Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann GmbH for allowing us to publish this recording.
